Teiko is presenting two posters at ICCS 2026: one on stabilizing bone marrow aspirates for AML MRD testing and another on 24-month whole blood stabilization preserving immune phenotypes.
Teiko is heading to ICCS 2026 in Miami with two posters exploring a shared challenge in clinical cytometry: how do we ensure the sample we analyze reflects the patient at the moment of collection? This year, we’re extending sample stabilization into bone marrow aspirate for AML measurable residual disease (MRD) testing and sharing new data on whole blood stabilization two years after collection.
Bringing AML MRD testing beyond the collection site
AML MRD testing requires detecting rare leukemic populations at just 0.01-0.1% of total cells. Detecting these rare populations depends heavily on sample quality, but bone marrow aspirates must typically be processed within 24 hours or risk degradation and signal loss. This creates a challenge for samples collected outside specialized laboratories. We are developing a method to stabilize bone marrow aspirates at collection, with the goal of preserving these rare cell populations for centralized analysis.
Lily Shang, PhD and collaborators demonstrated that bone marrow aspirates can be stabilized at collection, shipped, and analyzed centrally by spectral flow cytometry. The ongoing study uses a high-parameter spectral flow panel and tests a range of bone marrow concentrations to identify optimal stabilization conditions.

What does whole blood look like 24 months later?
Carly Lancaster, PhD and the Teiko team evaluated stabilized whole blood after 24 months at –80°C using a 41-marker mass cytometry panel.
The result: samples preserved with TokuKit showed immune population frequencies with r > 0.99 correlation, and functional subsets and marker expression at r = 0.96 after 24 months.
These new data unlock collection across sites, long-term sample banking, and more flexible analysis timelines for multicenter and longitudinal studies.
